Consultant Overview
Mr Kasra Saeb-Parsy is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and a partner at Cambridge Urology Partnership. He returned to Cambridge in 2016, having previously worked as a consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He qualified in medicine from the University of London in 1999 and undertook his early surgical training at Hammersmith Hospital. He then completed higher surgical training in urology at Cambridge University Hospitals, alongside an extended period of basic science and clinical research. This combination of academic and clinical training underpins his pragmatic, evidence-based approach to urological care.
During his time at the Royal Free Hospital, Mr Saeb-Parsy introduced holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and served as Clinical Lead for prostate cancer diagnosis. On returning to Cambridge, he continued to develop specialist services and became the first urologist to offer Rezūm water vapour therapy in Cambridgeshire.
His main clinical interests include renal stone disease, with particular expertise in laser stone surgery, and the management of benign prostate enlargement using minimally invasive and laser techniques, including Rezūm and HoLEP. He also specialises in prostate cancer diagnosis, including the use of prostate MRI and targeted biopsy for men with raised PSA. In addition, he sees patients across the full spectrum of general urology, including recurrent urinary tract infection, haematuria, chronic prostatitis and pelvic pain.
Mr Saeb-Parsy has a strong commitment to research and education. He organises and teaches on national courses in stone disease, prostate MRI and biopsy, and emergency urology, and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings. His research interests include point-of-care diagnosis of urinary infection, antimicrobial resistance, and stewardship.
He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, BAUS National Education Lead for Core Urology Training, an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology, and Clinical Lead for the Department of Urology at Cambridge University Hospitals. He is also Bond Solon trained in medical negligence investigations.
